Do you have a Wood Burning Fireplace, Stove, or Pellet Burner? This is for you! If you have a chimney fire, throw one or two of these into the fire, which will smother the fire in the firebox and the flue. Be sure to call the fire department to ensure the fire didn't spread to any other part of your home's structure! After all that excitement, you must have a chimney inspection before another fire is started to ensure the flue was not damaged or to have it as an insurance claim because a chimney fire almost always will destroy the chimney liner and flue.

Check valves are mechanical parts prone to failure. These check valves should be replaced each time you replace your sump pump. This is often overlooked and could lead to a flooded basement in the right circumstances.

Sump Pumps are one of those things that you get what you pay for! Don't skimp on your sump pump. Look for a pump that is all metal in construction, preferably solid brass(these are hard to find and are VERY costly). If you upgrade your pump, ensure your drain line is sized correctly. Your pump installation sheet should tell you the size of the discharge line that is required.

This is an excellent primary pump and battery backup pump combination unit. This allows for a 'one and done' installation method and may be more straightforward as a DIY project than trying to install 2 separate systems in your pump pit.

This Sump Pump Stand is a very helpful product, especially if you accumulate debris (sand or stone) inside your sump pit or if you have an old sump pit that is a dirt bottom. This stand keeps the sump pump off the bottom of the pit, so it doesn't suck up that debris/dirt. Debri/dirt that is sucked into your pump will, overtime, decrease the effectiveness and life span of the pump.

If you do no other protection with your gutter system, please protect your downspouts, especially if your downspouts are directly tiled underground. If your downspout gets clogged, it can be difficult to clear. However, if your underground tile becomes clogged with debris, not only is it difficult it can be VERY expensive, usually involving a hydro jet, sewer auger, or even digging up the file and replacing it.
